EU leaders did not call on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to soften his criticism of US President Donald Trump. This was reported by Politico, citing European diplomats familiar with the situation.

Earlier, the Financial Times wrote that during a meeting with Zelenskyy on October 16, European leaders allegedly intended to sympathetically, but firmly, ask him to restrain his criticism of Trump. However, Politico's sources claim that this time there was no pressure on the Ukrainian president from EU leaders.
“What do you expect from him? He is desperate, and the situation is dire,” commented one of the diplomats.
Zelenskyy himself stated during a press briefing in Brussels that he had heard only words of support from European allies regarding Kyiv's reaction to recent US actions and statements.
A few days ago, in an interview with the Financial Times, the Ukrainian president said he felt "betrayed" by the US agreement with Russia on diesel fuel supplies and the "energy truce" announced by Trump. Zelenskyy also stated that Ukraine, in his opinion, is losing the US as an ally and called on Washington to remain a mediator in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
“If you are a mediator, you must stay in the middle, not choose the wrong side. I believe his advisors are mistaken. I don’t know who is pushing him in the wrong direction. This is not the side of history that is correct,” the Ukrainian president declared.
