Operation to deliver Oleshky residents to Ukraine underway in Homiel
The Belarusian side has officially joined the humanitarian operation in the frontline city of Oleshky near Kherson, BelTA reports.

Representatives of the Russian and Ukrainian sides participating in the humanitarian operation have already arrived on Belarusian territory.
The Ukrainian delegation, led by Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets, arrived at the "Novaya Huta" checkpoint in the Homiel district.

As previously reported, residents of Russian-occupied Oleshky who wish to travel to territory controlled by Kyiv are to be transported via Anapa and Belarusian Homiel. The route is outlined in the ceasefire agreement. Homiel and its district have been repeatedly used for Russian-Ukrainian exchanges in the past.
The ceasefire agreement was reached last week through the mediation of US President's wife Melania Trump and Pope Leo XVI, who requested it during personal telephone conversations with Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin.
Oleshky, occupied by Russian forces, is located on the left bank of the Dnipro River, opposite Kherson, which is controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and situated on the right bank. Kyiv and Moscow accuse each other of shelling the city and declare a humanitarian catastrophe. Delivering food supplies to its residents is very difficult.
According to volunteers, as of autumn 2026, about 1,500 people remain in Oleshky, including approximately 40 children. If neighbouring villages are included, the number of residents is about six thousand people, among whom are approximately 200 children.
