In 2024, Pavel Kuntsevich was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony under Part 3 of Art. 361 of the Criminal Code of Belarus for "calls for sanctions or other actions aimed at harming the national security of Belarus". The decision was issued by the Minsk City Court on January 22, 2024. He was serving his sentence in colony No. 15 (Mogilev).
In 2025, the court sentenced Pavel to another 8 months of imprisonment under Art. 411 of the Criminal Code of Belarus, after which he was transferred to colony No. 8 (Orsha).
Pavel Kuntsevich is 39 years old. He is from Minsk, studied psychology at the Sakharov Minsk State Institute of Ecology. He previously owned his own retail outlet at the Chervensky market, and recently earned money by making greenhouses. Pavel has a wife and four children waiting for him at home.
Article 411 of the Criminal Code of Belarus is used as an instrument of additional pressure on political prisoners and to extend the term of imprisonment even after the main verdict has been issued. At least 77 political prisoners in Belarus have been subjected to additional punishment under this article.
