Trump promised to visit China in April after meeting with Xi in South Korea last fall, but the White House has not yet announced the exact dates of the visit.
A White House official, who wished to remain anonymous to share planning details, stated that the travel dates have not yet been finalized.
Politico adds that the Chinese embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the dates.
According to media reports, Trump's anticipated visit involves continuing negotiations with the Chinese leader on key topics, which may include issues concerning Taiwan, trade barriers, and other aspects of bilateral relations. Trump also announced a visit by Chinese leader Xi Jinping to the U.S. closer to the end of the year.
