About 1200 tons of garbage removed from spontaneous dumps in Minsk forests over the year

In 2025, about 1200 tons of garbage were removed from Minsk's forest zones. These figures were reported by Alexander Dragun, chairman of the Minsk City Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, at an operational meeting in the Minsk City Executive Committee, as reported by Minsk-News .

To combat spontaneous dumps in the forests, photo traps and video surveillance systems will be used to record violations. Individuals who violate environmental legislation will be sent notifications demanding payment of a fine.

According to Alexander Dragun, in 2025, air quality in Minsk generally met high standards and was most often assessed as "very good," "good," or "moderate." A temporary exceedance of permissible norms for solid particles was recorded only in the Uruchcha district, which was associated with a prolonged lack of rain. With the onset of precipitation, the situation quickly normalized.

The main part of harmful emissions in the capital — about 80% — comes from transport, while another 20% is generated by industrial enterprises. In 2026, it is planned to reduce the total volume of emissions by approximately one thousand tons, partly by decommissioning outdated equipment at one of Minsk's factories.

A growth in the number of environmentally friendly vehicles is also noted: two years ago there were about 1200 electric cars in Minsk, but now there are more than 24 thousand. During the warm season, city residents actively use bicycles, which also contributes to reducing air pollution levels.

In addition, over 55 thousand trees, about 318 thousand shrubs, and more than 11 million flowering plants were planted in the capital, and over 300 hectares of lawns were renewed.
