As reported by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee, such checks are carried out regularly to ensure road safety and bring intoxicated drivers to justice.
The State Traffic Inspectorate also reminded that the amount of the administrative fine depends on the concentration of alcohol in the blood:
- 0.3—0.8 per mille — 100 basic units and deprivation of driving rights for 3 years;
- more than 0.8 per mille — 200 basic units and deprivation of driving rights for 5 years.
In case of repeated violation within a year after administrative punishment, criminal liability is already provided.
