"Russians want to replace me." Zelenskyy spoke about elections and a truce
The President of Ukraine stated that if there is at least a two-month truce, he is ready to hold presidential elections, but Russia wants to replace him. Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this statement to British journalist Piers Morgan, writes RBC-Ukraine.

"I think our partners should answer one question: what do they want? Do they want elections or do they just want to replace me? Because, I think, the Russians just want to replace me. And then they use what you mentioned earlier — physical elimination or other steps," the president said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that he would never reject proposals from the USA if they could bring peace to Ukraine. Therefore, even if there is a two-month truce, he is ready to talk to the parliament and push for a decision that deputies currently do not support.
"And even people do not support holding elections during the war. Because even if you have a two-month truce, it doesn't mean the end of the war. But even in such a case — if the truce is only for two months — perhaps some documents could be signed or a referendum held, and people would accept peace. I will do everything possible, I will talk to the parliament. They will change the law, I hope," the head of state declared.
He also said that during conversations with Americans, Russians say that, in their opinion, elections in Ukraine could be held in a week or two. However, Russia forgets "that we are not Russia."
In particular, there are different parties in the Verkhovna Rada, but even during the war, they have different positions on many laws and many issues. Therefore, it is impossible to simply "press a button" and you cannot "break" the parliament. You need to talk and have real reasons why elections should be held right now.
Summarizing, Zelenskyy added that he asked the USA to stop Vladimir Putin for a few months for the sake of elections. If that happens, then he agrees to hold elections.
