Montenegro may introduce a visa regime for citizens of Belarus and Russia as early as 2026. Representatives of the country stated this at a briefing of the Montenegrin Ministry of Foreign Affairs for heads and representatives of diplomatic missions, reports the portal of the Republican Union of the Tourism Industry.
The topic of the meeting was the country's plans for accelerated integration into the European Union. Montenegro plans to complete negotiations on this by the end of 2026 and join the EU by 2028.
According to representatives of the Montenegrin Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as part of this process, the country plans to synchronize its visa policy with the common European one by the end of 2026. This effectively means that Montenegro will introduce a visa regime for citizens of countries that are not on the EU's visa-free list. This includes Belarus and Russia.
It is reported that VFS Global will be the visa operator. Representatives of the country are already negotiating with it regarding the opening of visa centers.
In early February, we reported that the French embassy in our country changed the procedure for submitting visa applications. And on the 10th, it was reported that from February 25, the UK would introduce electronic visas for foreigners.
It was also noted that a message about a change in the visa center appeared on the Instagram page of the Italian embassy in Belarus. From July 1, 2026, visa appointments will be made at the VF WorldWide operator's center.
