Previously, Hungarian authorities led by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who reportedly lost his position after the April elections, opposed sanctions against ROC representatives.
The EU leadership, one of Politico's interlocutors stated, believes that now is the time to expand sanctions, as the situation in the Russian economy is "the worst since the beginning of the war," and it is necessary to intensify pressure on Russia.
