Seviarynets is completely rebooting the BCD: with transparent elections and reconciliation. Who will participate, and who will not?
On October 24, a congress of the Belarusian Christian Democracy, timed to coincide with the party's 100th anniversary, will take place in Białystok. Among other things, elections for a new chairman of the Christian Democrats will be held there.
"These will be true democratic elections, an action Belarusians have unlearned. With secret ballot, a transparent ballot box," promised co-chairman of the party Pavel Seviarynets. "Anyone can be nominated for the positions of chairman and deputies."

The politician will also participate in the elections on general terms. The politician sees the overall goal of the congress as restoring the BCD as a mass political force. He emphasizes: despite people being forced to work in emigration, they see their goal not only as working for the diasporas, but also preparing for the return of Belarusians to their homeland.
In recent years, the BCD existed in a state of division and conflict — one part of the blanket was pulled by Georgy Dzmitruk, the other by Vital Rymasheuski. Scandals involving the discovery of KGB agents among party members also affected the overall image.
"When I was released from prison, I saw that Christian Democracy was divided, and I proposed unity. At first, this was met with hostility, no one even wanted to sit at the same table. But, thank God, we managed to hold a series of meetings where preliminary agreements were reached. We created an organizing committee, held weekly meetings and discussions, and eventually came to an agreement by majority," commented Pavel Seviarynets.

It is already known that the congress is expected to be attended by party members Georgy Dzmitruk, Anatol Mikhnavets, Valery Matskevich, Taisiya Kabanchuk, Siarhei Verameyenka, and others.
The presence of Vital Rymasheuski and his further role in the BCD ranks remains an intrigue for now.
In total, more than 100 delegates will attend the event, including Belarusian politicians of various leanings — representatives of the UCP, BPF, Movement for Freedom, "Volnaya Belarus," and others.
Geographically, the anniversary congress will take place in Białystok. It is timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the historical BCD: it was precisely on October 24, 1926, in Vilnius, that a congress of Belarusian Christian Democrats took place, at which the Belarusian Christian Union, which had existed since 1917, was reorganized into the Belarusian Christian Democracy.
