In an interview with the Italian Corriere della Serra, the President of Ukraine explained the essence of current relations with the United States, as reported on his Telegram channel.
"We have always had important and strong strategic relations with the United States of America. Our bilateral relations began to develop particularly actively during the full-scale war. I am grateful for all the support. But we have always built our relations on honesty, fairness, and, most importantly, transparency. Because when you lie, and your people are fighting, it is very painful. Therefore, I have always wanted to hide nothing and not lie to the President of the United States," Zelenskyy stated.
According to him, Ukraine has more in common with America than America has with Russia, which the majority of people in Ukraine and the United States of America realize, and they would like to continue such relations.
"The position is very simple. We advocate for a mutual ceasefire in the energy sector. When we talk about not striking the energy facilities of the Russian Federation after they strike our gas facilities, electricity, oil — everything. The Russians strike. America cannot stop it.
Let's believe that America strongly wants to, but cannot do it. Then, as a partner, I meet President Trump halfway: if they strike us and we cannot respond, it is dishonest and unfair. But if you need it, if you cannot curb Putin, then give us anti-missile systems so I can protect the energy infrastructure. If you couldn't stop Putin, help Ukraine," Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated.
