Belarusians hid thousands of undeclared dollars in tissue packs at the border
A married couple attempted to transport undeclared money across the Belarusian-Polish border, hiding part of the cash in packs of tissues. The violation was discovered by Grodno customs officers during an inspection of passengers' personal belongings, writes the press service of the State Customs Committee.

The man and woman were traveling by regular bus from Poland through the "Berestovitsa" checkpoint. They knew that cash exceeding the equivalent of 10 thousand US dollars must be declared. During an oral survey, each of them stated that they had a slightly smaller amount with them. To cross the border, the couple chose the green corridor.
However, during customs control, another 3.5 thousand dollars were found in the woman's bag, and 2.4 thousand dollars in the man's bag. The money was wrapped in tissues and packed in bags.
The Grodno Regional Customs initiated administrative proceedings against both citizens under Part 2 of Article 15.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Belarus. The hidden money was confiscated pending a court decision.
Customs reminded that when moving cash exceeding the equivalent of 10 thousand US dollars across the border, it is necessary to go through the red corridor and fill out a passenger customs declaration for the entire amount of cash.
