The events of the thriller "The Barrel" take place in the USA, but all filming was done in Minsk. The German actor, known for the film "Knockin' on Heaven's Door", played a pastor in it.

The trailer for the film was released on October 26. "The Barrel" is a Russian-Belarusian psychological thriller, on which the Belarusian company "Kinatseh" worked. The director is Alexey Zvantsov from Vladivostok. Previously, he mainly shot commercials, "The Barrel" became his debut in feature films.
According to the plot, a young prankster regains consciousness in a closed metal barrel at an abandoned factory. Next to him is his father, chained to a pole, with whom he has long had a complicated relationship. To get out, they will have to learn to trust each other.
The film was shot in English. The creators reached Schweiger through Swiss actor Philipp Reinhardt, who also played one of the main roles.
As "Kinopoisk" previously reported, an unexpected problem arose before filming: Schweiger announced that he had lost his passport and could not come to Minsk. He was urgently issued temporary documents. On set, the actor surprised the Belarusian team with his discipline and unpretentiousness: for two weeks he wore the same sweater he arrived in.
"The Barrel" will be released in Russian distribution on December 17. According to the company "Kinatseh", which shared details with RBC, Apple TV and Amazon have already acquired the rights to the film.
