The incident occurred in early October in one of the city's cafes, where the newlyweds were celebrating their wedding.
Around one in the morning, when the banquet came to an end, the young couple began collecting gifts. A 22-year-old witness offered to help the couple: she took a box with gift envelopes from relatives off the table and carried it to the cloakroom, the regional police reported.
As it turned out later, on the way, the girl opened the box. From the four envelopes inside, she prudently chose the one with the largest sum of money. The loot amounted to 3000 rubles.
The bride noticed the money missing only a week later, after which she immediately filed a statement with the Slonim District Department of Internal Affairs (DDIA). Criminal investigation officers reconstructed the chronology of events that night and identified the suspect.
It turned out that the girl had already managed to spend all the stolen money on gambling. She explained her action by a simple lack of personal money.
A criminal case has been initiated under the article "Theft". In addition to the obligation to fully compensate for the damage caused, the girl faces a penalty of up to three years of imprisonment.
