European countries with the largest defense budgets named Russia the main security threat and promised to support Ukraine
On October 26, a meeting of the E5 group — countries with the largest defense budgets — took place in Paris. The defense ministers of Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Poland, and France gathered to discuss support for Ukraine ahead of winter, reports Bloomberg.

Following the meeting, they named Russia the main long-term threat to European security and promised to continue supporting Ukraine, despite Washington's rapprochement with Moscow.
«Our countries share the view that Russia poses the most acute and long-term threat to Euro-Atlantic security and stability,» states the final declaration.
According to the ministers, the war against Ukraine and the intensification of hybrid attacks in Europe «not only do not undermine our unity and solidarity, but also strengthen our resolve to continue the efforts already underway to ensure the integrity and security of allied territory.»
The ministers promised to continue supporting Ukraine but did not announce new packages of military or financial aid, Bloomberg notes. During the meeting, they limited themselves to reaffirming their previous commitments.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius emphasized that allies would make efforts to maintain American support for Ukraine: «We will do everything possible to ensure that the US also continues to support Ukraine with supplies, intelligence, and satellite data.»
