A large-scale gathering of people named Andrei will take place in Minsk

An event will be held in Minsk where participants don't need to introduce themselves to each other. This is about the '1000 Andreis' community event, which is literally a meeting aiming to gather as many people named Andrei as possible in one room, writes Onliner.by.

The community of Andreis was conceived by Russian Andrei Martynov. It all started with a humorous reel in which the young man invited his namesakes to gather for karaoke and sing the very same song "Hello, Andrei". The joke quickly grew to incredible proportions. The founder of the community said that in June, 600 people attended the first meeting of Andreis in St. Petersburg.

— I never used Instagram, wasn't a blogger, but then I posted one reel — and woke up popular. Andreis wrote to me from Vladivostok, Irkutsk, Kazakhstan — Andreis were sending tickets and saying they were already flying. But I had no venue, no program, no budget. I didn't eat or sleep for three days. But I realized there was no turning back, I had to go all the way. And this is what came of it.

The Andreis didn't limit themselves to just the St. Petersburg meeting: two months later, a similar event was held in Moscow. In the Telegram chat "1000 Andreis", the number of participants has actually already exceeded 3000, and on Instagram, about 8000 namesakes have subscribed to Martynov.

One of the participants created a website with a "database of Andreis" — Andreis who are willing to share their professional experience or offer services to other Andreis can join there by application. The community already includes men of seemingly all professions: entrepreneurs, scientists, bankers, engineers, drivers.

— Our audience is quite adult — from 25 to 60 years old. We created our own logo and a flag with it. One Andrei raised it on Elbrus, another — on Ararat. Money was also collected for another Andrei's knee joint surgery.

In general, we have a goal to be useful, to do good deeds. For example, there is an idea for Andreis to chip in for tree saplings, and then, having agreed with the administration of some city, to plant an oak alley and name it Andreyevskaya. It all started as a joke, but after the first meetings, I realized that the potential is enormous.

The first meeting of Andreis in Minsk will take place on October 31.

The venue will be announced later, closer to this date. The event is closed; entry is by pre-registration and subsequent invitation — understandably, only for Andreis. Registration opened only yesterday, but 63 applications have already been received.

— "It will be a karaoke night. Andreis will get acquainted and sing songs," — briefly announced Andrei Martynov about the Minsk meeting, adding that the team is also working on attracting famous namesakes. In Russia, the community has already been supported by Andrei Grigoryev-Appolonov from "Ivanushki" and businessman Andrei Kovalyov.
