The Minsk Planetarium has moved from Gorky Park to the National Library of Belarus for the duration of its renovation. To attend film screenings at the new location, it is now necessary to register in advance and have a library card, News.by reports .

At the library, the planetarium team launched a lecture series on the search for extraterrestrial life as part of the joint project "Popular Astronomy". Screenings of the films "Exoplanets" and "The Search for Life in the Universe" generated great interest: the number of attendees exceeded the hall's capacity. Therefore, the organizers introduced pre-registration.
The planetarium's renovation is part of the reconstruction of the building complex in Gorky Park. Since the beginning of 2026, the institution has not been operating in its usual building.
The modernization project includes complete technical re-equipment, replacement of engineering networks, and renovation of facades and interiors.
According to project visualizations, the building will retain features of Soviet constructivism — distinct angular lines and large windows. A neon sign is also planned to be installed, which will match the overall style.
The exact reopening date of the Minsk Planetarium after reconstruction has not yet been announced.
