In Belarus, they want to postpone deadlines for filing declarations and paying taxes
Deputies adopted in the first reading a bill on amending the Tax Code in 2027. Among the proposals are to postpone the deadlines for filing tax declarations and paying income tax, expand the list of incomes subject to increased rates, and increase excise taxes on certain goods, writes Onliner.by.
Deadlines for filing declarations and paying taxes will change
For individuals, it is proposed to postpone the deadlines related to income tax. If currently the declaration must be filed by March 31, under the new rules, the deadline is proposed to be extended to April 30.
It is also proposed to change the deadlines for handing over notifications and paying tax:
- notifications will be delivered not by April 30, but by June 15;
- tax can be paid not by June 1, but by August 1.
The deadlines for filing income tax declarations for tax agents will also change. Instead of the 20th day of the month following the reporting quarter, it is proposed to submit them by the 10th day of the second month following the quarter.
Excise taxes and some other taxes will increase
The project envisages an increase in excise tax rates for almost all groups of excisable goods, including tobacco products.
For premium alcoholic products, it is proposed to introduce a separate category and set excise taxes one and a half times higher than current ones.
It is also planned to index the rates of land and environmental taxes, transport tax, gambling business tax, dog ownership tax, and other payments.
What else will change
The project proposes to expand the category of young specialists who will be able to receive a standard tax deduction.
In addition, they want to expand the list of incomes that are subject to income tax at increased rates — 25% and 30%.
Tax authorities are planned to be given additional rights to conduct tax control.
According to the developers of the bill, the tax burden in 2027 will not exceed 26% of GDP.
