After nearly four months of absence from social media due to his arrest, the former director of the Palace of the Republic and deputy of the Minsk City Council, Maxim Prikhodovsky, appeared on Instagram with a video invitation to visit Father Frost in Belovezhskaya Pushcha — now the official works there as deputy general director.
The functionary, caught taking a bribe, spent just over two months under investigation. First, he was transferred from the pre-trial detention center to house arrest, and in October he was released altogether. According to former colleagues of Prikhodovsky, the release was due to his friendship with Lukashenko's press secretary, Natalya Eismont. They say that he himself did not hide it when he came to pick up his things from the Palace of the Republic. «Natalya Nikolaevna (Alexander Lukashenko's press secretary Natalya Eismont — NN) can do anything,» he laughed in the face of the palace staff.
The advantageous friendship allowed Prikhodovsky to have all charges dropped, although his accomplices remain behind bars.
The position of director of the Palace of the Republic, however, remains vacant: only the first deputy Yuri Naumovich appears on the official page in the «Management» section.
