This Saturday, an unusual charity event will kick off in Belarus: a 24-hour continuous run, where every kilometer will be converted into financial aid for children with oncological diseases. The more participants join, the more money will be raised. Not everyone will have to run for a full day.

The event was conceived by Pavel Savitsky, a dentist from Minsk. He has been running for a long time at an amateur level. This year, the Belarusian decided to combine the idea of a healthy lifestyle with helping children and came up with a 24-hour charity run, writes Onliner.by.
"Running has long been a part of my life," Pavel says about his initiative. "I now have two goals: to help children with oncological diseases and to inspire people to move. Yes, I plan to run for all 24 hours; it's a serious challenge for the body. I know only a couple of people who have completed such a distance. I've been training intensely with a coach since summer, and I train every day. These are not only running workouts but also strength training. It takes a lot of effort, as I have to sacrifice sleep and time at home. But you get used to such a schedule, you get into it, and you work towards your goal. I should note that this is only possible with the support of your family and loved ones."
Pavel invites everyone interested to join his initiative:
"People sometimes say, 'What can I do? I'll just run a couple of kilometers and that's it.' But believe me, even these couple of kilometers can help. And the more of us there are, the more good we can do."
What are the conditions of the run?
-
Participants have 24 hours to run any distance — be it 1 km or 10 km;
-
Each kilometer is valued at 1 Belarusian ruble;
-
After the event concludes, the total amount will be transferred to the "Chance" fund. The money will go towards children's treatment.
The run can be done anywhere in Belarus. There's no need to come to Minsk — just go outside in your city and run as much as you deem necessary. Pavel himself plans to run for all 24 hours without sleep.
Start — December 13 at 09:00. Finish — December 14 at 09:00.
Details on how to participate in the event can be found here.
