Back to 2021 Levels: Pentagon Announces Reduction of Brigades in Europe to Three
The US announced a reduction in the number of American combat brigade groups in Europe — from four to three. As Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnel explained on the social network X, this returns the military presence to 2021 levels.

"Thus, the number of these groups in Europe returns to 2021 levels. The decision is the result of a comprehensive, multi-level process focused on reviewing the US military presence in Europe. Due to this, the deployment of American forces in Poland — an exemplary US ally — is temporarily delayed," the statement said.
Parnell emphasized that the final deployment of US troops in Europe will be determined after additional analysis of US strategic and operational needs, as well as the readiness of allies to take on greater responsibility for the continent's defense.
The Pentagon stressed that the review of the American forces' presence is in line with US President Donald Trump's "America First" policy.
Washington expects NATO member countries to invest more actively in their own security and the defense of Europe.
