Belarusian Woman Tried to Bribe Head of Russian Colony to Have Son Transferred to Another Unit
She wanted to give about $230, but had to pay an $1800 fine.

The Kovrov City Court of the Vladimir Region of Russia sentenced a citizen of Belarus. She was found guilty under Part 2 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of Russia (giving a bribe to an official personally on a significant scale).
The Belarusian woman's son is serving a sentence in strict-regime colony No. 6 in the Vladimir Region. In early summer 2026, he wrote to his mother that he was dissatisfied with the conditions of detention.
This is not surprising: according to human rights reports, torture, rape, murder, and incitement to suicide of prisoners are practiced in the colony.
The woman decided to give one of the colony's heads a bribe — about $230 and food. In return, she wanted her son to be transferred to another unit.
But the colony employee who was offered the money refused and reported it to the internal security department.
The Belarusian woman was detained. In court, she fully admitted guilt. She was fined 150 thousand Russian rubles (about $1800).
