In Belarus, access to websites from abroad was restricted due to dangerous PHP vulnerabilities
Some Belarusian websites may not open from other countries. Hoster.by reported that foreign inbound traffic was restricted by order of a state body coordinating cybersecurity. The reason is two critical vulnerabilities found in PHP, the technology on which many websites operate.
According to a statement from the hosting company dated October 21, websites will continue to work for users in Belarus, but will be inaccessible from other countries. An exception was made for search engine robots like Google, Yandex, and other search engines.
Which specific state body issued the order and how many websites were affected by the restrictions was not specified in the message.
The discovered vulnerabilities could allow attackers to execute malicious code on the server without authorization. Both vulnerabilities received a danger rating of 9.2 out of 10. PHP developers have already released fixes and urged immediate software updates.
Hoster.by promised to update information regarding the timing of the restrictions' removal.
