A novel about Braslaw has been published in Belarusian translation
The debut novel by writer Helena Pabyarzhyna, "Valsarb", which tells about the city of Braslaw and real historical events in the genre of "magical realism", has been published by "Popuri" publishing house, writes bellit.info.

At the center of the work is a girl who constantly plays with words. She lives in a world created for her by Lord God Grandfather. The girl is curious and lonely. It is likely why They chose her.
"'They' are people who were once residents of Valsarb, but after death remained nameless, without monuments or graves. They follow the girl everywhere, intrude into her dreams, and do not disappear until they are heard and until they reclaim their names," the annotation says.
"Valsarb" is a unique poetic story of memory, painful like the first encounter with injustice, piercing like a deathbed attempt to re-evaluate life.
Palina Hryb translated the book from Russian into Belarusian. The original was published in 2023. Cover: Anatol Lazar
