Apple warned German politicians about possible iPhone hacking

The attack could have affected Bundestag deputies and members of the federal government, Bild writes .

It is believed that the attackers used Mercenary Spyware, which allows access to correspondence, contacts, calendar, and geolocation, as well as silently activating the smartphone's microphone and camera.

Germany's Minister for Digitalization, Carsten Wildberger, confirmed receipt of the warning from Apple, but did not disclose details of the possible attack.
