Sparysh believes that during the 2020 protests, TSUM should have been seized
"In that situation, someone had to be the first to go on the attack and die."

Former political prisoner Siarhei Sparysh reacted to Eduard Palchys's confession. As a reminder, the blogger stated that he coordinated the 2020 protests from Minsk and wrote the plans for the first marches.
But Sparysh believes that the marches "were not entirely meaningful strolls without a goal." And action should have been taken differently – for example, by occupying the TSUM building.
"This means Palchys took personal responsibility for not declaring an indefinite protest when hundreds of thousands were on the streets. For not occupying buildings in city centers when it could have been done without losses. For example, TSUM," Sparysh reflects.
He himself was arrested in June 2020, so he could not participate in the post-election protests.
"People in spring sacrificed their freedom to raise a wave of protests. Because without sacrifices, it was unrealistic. In that situation, someone had to be the first to go on the attack and die. And other people used the result to organize strolls," Sparysh writes.
Siarhei Sparysh was part of Mikalai Statkevich's "Narodnaya Hramada". He received a six-year sentence in the "Army with the People" chat case. He was pardoned in September 2025 and deported to Lithuania. In exile, he joined Volha Karach's "Nash Dom" (Our Home).
