An unusual 500 euro note was found in Grodno, and collectors are hunting for it.
The Grodno Interdistrict Department of the State Forensic Examination Committee received two 500 euro banknotes of the 2002 series, which raised doubts about their authenticity with a bank employee.
According to the conclusions of the forensic expert, the objects examined are genuine. Production defects in banknotes are quite rare. In 2021, defective euros were submitted to forensic experts for examination. A 50 euro banknote, brought to the bank by a resident of Grodno, was missing a hologram. As it turned out, there was a manufacturing defect during the production of the banknote. It is also possible that the hologram was carefully removed by criminals for subsequent counterfeiting, reports the State Committee of Forensic Examinations.
In 2024, the object of study was a 100 dollar bill with a defect made during its production.
It is noteworthy that such "rare banknotes" are of interest to collectors.
Forensic experts remind: if you have doubts about the authenticity of a particular banknote, it is possible to privately contact the State Committee of Forensic Examinations to conduct an appropriate examination on a paid basis.
