More than 520,000 ID cards have already been issued in Belarus. This was announced by the head of the Republican Certification Center of the National Center for Electronic Services, Vladimir Basko, at the BelTA press center.

An electronic digital signature (EDS) is not just a flash drive with files, he noted.
"It is an analogue of a handwritten signature and a kind of passport in the digital world, which is a complex tool both technically and organizationally," said Vladimir Basko. "To ensure trust in electronic signatures, special procedures are carried out for their issuance. They may seem complex and redundant, but they guarantee that the signature is issued to a specific person or representative of an organization. This makes it possible in the digital world to reliably confirm and, if necessary, prove, including in court proceedings, that a specific person used his electronic signature."
Classic electronic digital signature tools include USB drives, as well as mobile signatures and ID cards, which were introduced several years ago. In particular, more than 520 thousand ID cards have already been issued.
The center's plans include the introduction of a cloud digital signature. "Specialized software is now being created that will allow the use of this technology on mobile devices. This will be convenient and interesting for both young people and other users, as it will allow them to work with government services through mobile devices. The possibility of using ID cards without the need to purchase separate readers is also being developed. A universal software is currently being developed that will allow the use of mobile devices as readers for any mobile applications based on almost all popular mobile operating systems. This will greatly simplify the use of electronic digital signatures," said the head of the center.
