«The United States is actively committing to allocate up to 100 million dollars as part of the coordinated efforts of G7 countries to ensure the continued reliable isolation of fissile nuclear materials at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine.
According to G7 estimates, the cost of restoring the New Safe Confinement arch, damaged as a result of a drone strike last year during the senseless war between Russia and Ukraine, is 500 million dollars.
We call on our G7 partners and European countries to follow suit and make significant financial commitments to jointly share the burden of these vital repair works,» — reports the US Embassy in Belarus.
