Democrats in US Congress can approve new aid to Ukraine, overcoming Trump's veto
Gaining control of both chambers of Congress, starting in January, could allow US Democrats to approve new aid to Ukraine, writes Reuters.

The publication notes that Trump has virtually halted direct financial and military aid to Ukraine, which is fighting against the Russian invasion, despite widespread support for American assistance from lawmakers of both Democratic and Republican parties.
Most recently, he sparked outrage among members of Congress, including many Republicans, by reversing sanctions on Russian diesel fuel and lifting sanctions against Russian energy — just weeks after signing the relevant laws.
«By gaining control of both chambers in January, Democrats will be able to decide which issues to bring to a vote and when. This could allow them to approve new aid to Ukraine, which will likely receive the necessary two-thirds of votes to overcome Trump's veto. Democratic aides stated that aid to Kyiv is a priority,» Reuters reports.
Additionally, Democrats may focus on other actions by Trump.
For example, Democratic Congressman Gregory Meeks of New York, who is likely to chair the House Foreign Affairs Committee, introduced a bipartisan bill aimed at blocking Trump's plan to return Russian diesel fuel to the global market.
