Sri Lanka to extend visas for tourists stuck on the island due to Middle East conflict

The authorities of Sri Lanka have decided to extend visas for free for tourists stranded due to flight cancellations in the Middle East. This was reported by the Republican Union of Tourist Industry with reference to the main consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.
The Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka will extend visas for tourists who were unable to fly out due to flight cancellations in Middle Eastern countries. Visas will be extended for free for 14 days from their expiry date.
To take advantage of this opportunity, tourists need to provide proof of inability to depart. This could include boarding passes, flight cancellation notices, or airline confirmations.
Visa extension is processed at the immigration office of Sri Lanka's airport.
Earlier, the authorities of Thailand announced the introduction of temporary support measures for foreign tourists stranded on holiday in the country due to the crisis in the Middle East.
