This year, Oktoberfest in Germany attracted a record 7.4 million visitors
However, a liter stein of beer also cost a record 16 euros.

The 191st "Oktoberfest" concluded in Munich on Sunday — the beer festival considered the largest folk festival in the world. In 2026, it confirmed this title by breaking attendance records: 7.4 million people visited Oktoberfest since September 19, organizers announced on Sunday, writes DW.
For comparison: in 2025, 6.5 million people visited the festival on Theresienwiese in Munich. The previous attendance record was held by "Oktoberfest-2023" — with 7.2 million visitors.
Organizers note a particularly noticeable increase in the number of visitors on weekdays — up to +28.9%. To achieve this, Munich authorities conducted an advertising campaign encouraging people to visit the festival from Monday to Thursday to avoid excessive crowds on weekends and the closure of festival entrances due to overcrowding, as happened in 2025.
More non-alcoholic beer consumed at Oktoberfest
Over the 16 days of the festival in Bavaria, 6.7 million liters of beer were consumed — 2.7% more than in 2025. This figure did not set a record — in 2014, 7.7 million liter steins of the alcoholic beverage were drunk.
However, in 2026, the consumption of non-alcoholic beer and non-alcoholic beverages at Oktoberfest increased — by 10.7% and 10% respectively. Organizers do not provide exact figures for these categories.
According to them, Radler — a low-alcohol beer cocktail made from beer and lemonade — was "very popular" at the festival in 2026. Organizers also noted an increase in visitor interest in Radler a year earlier.
Among food items, roasted chicken became popular at the festival. Overall, food sales showed the same annual growth as beer sales — 2.7%.
Regarding beer prices, the last Oktoberfest was the most expensive in history: a liter stein at the festival cost almost 16 euros.
A few more figures: approximately 4,000 items were handed over to the festival's lost and found office, and 105,000 beer steins were secretly attempted to be taken from the Oktoberfest grounds.
