Zelenskyy ready to meet with Trump and Putin in Turkey

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he is ready to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump in Istanbul to discuss the terms of ending the war, writes «Ukrainska Pravda».

«This war must end. We must unite to move this war from a hot phase at least into a diplomatic one. In this context, I hope for Turkey's mediation. Personally, I believe that our relations with President [Erdogan], as well as his relations with Trump and Putin, can prove useful.

Today, there was again talk of holding a leaders' meeting in a trilateral format in Turkey. Of course, if Turkey can organize this, we will gladly agree to it», — said Zelenskyy in an interview with CNN Türk.

Zelenskyy noted that a meeting at the level of technical groups, which is to take place in Abu Dhabi, and a meeting of leaders are «parallel processes».

«Our technical groups will hold negotiations. However, we believe that a leaders' meeting is a prerequisite. The issues that technical groups can discuss are clearly defined. Some of them, on the contrary, must be considered at the leaders' level», — he said.

According to Zelenskyy, the agenda of the technical groups will include issues such as an energy truce, a maritime truce, and prisoner exchange. They can also discuss preparations for the leaders' meeting.

At the same time, the main issue on the agenda of the leaders' meeting is «ensuring an unconditional, unwavering, and complete ceasefire, as well as its control through a powerful monitoring mechanism».

In addition, issues for the leaders' meeting are security guarantees and the reconstruction of Ukraine, as well as the issue of territories, Zelenskyy noted.

«We, of course, will not abandon our territories. We cannot recognize that our eastern territories, including Crimea, which is under temporary Russian occupation, belong to Russia… Russia strives for this and tries to convey this to us through various intermediaries. However, this is not a healthy and reasonable approach. Therefore, our priority is to ensure a truce on the existing frontline, and only then — to discuss other issues», — said the President of Ukraine.

Earlier on October 31, Zelenskyy stated that he discussed with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan the possibility of involving Turkey in the negotiation process to end Russia's war against Ukraine, as well as the possibility of holding a relevant meeting in Turkey.
