The potash plant in Lyuban district began construction in 2016 by the company «Slavkaliy», founded by Mikhail Gutseriev.

The first and second stages of the Nezhin Mining and Processing Plant have been launched in the Lyuban district. As First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov stated at a meeting with Lukashenka, the new enterprise plans to produce 500 thousand tons of potash fertilizers in 2026, BelTA writes.
The potash plant in the Lyuban district began construction in 2016 by the company «Slavkaliy», founded by Russian businessman Mikhail Gutseriev. The project was estimated at $2 billion, of which $1.4 billion was a loan from the China Development Bank. However, in 2021, after the introduction of Western sanctions against Gutseriev and the potash industry of Belarus, funding for the project ceased.
Construction resumed at the end of 2023. The successor to «Slavkaliy» became the state enterprise «Netry Nezhin», which in May 2025 was headed by the former general director of «Belaruskali» Ivan Halavaty. At the same time, during a trip to the Lyuban district, Lukashenka made a number of decisions aimed at completing the construction and simultaneously developing the Lyuban district.
In September 2025, the Nezhin plant produced its first commercial products. To date, about 400 thousand tons of potash fertilizers have been produced, finding their buyers on foreign markets.
