Moscow has stopped the dialogue with Washington on strategic stability. There are currently no prerequisites for its resumption, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told Izvestia.
He said that Moscow had offered Washington to voluntarily adhere to the restrictions on the central quantitative ceilings of the previous nuclear potential agreement for at least a year. Ryabkov noted that this initiative "did not suit" the American side. "In this situation, we do not consider it necessary to further develop our own position and fix anything," he concluded.
Ryabkov also outlined that "there are no prerequisites" for dialogue with Washington on strategic stability and future arms control issues.
According to him, for almost four months, nothing has prevented world powers from increasing their nuclear potential.
Earlier, Ryabkov called relations between Russia and the US extremely difficult. "Relations with the US are very complex. Along with elements of dialogue and some forward movement, they carry a significant burden of difficulties, restrictions — sanctions and others," said the Russian diplomat.
