In Baranovichi, during repair work on the territory of a private house, workers found ammunition from the Second World War. While removing soil for laying tiles, they noticed a suspicious object and reported it to employees of the Baranovichi City Department of Emergency Situations, reports the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Brest Regional Executive Committee.
Police officers immediately arrived at the scene. They cordoned off the area and set up a post to ensure no one approached the find until specialists arrived.
The sapper unit of military unit 5526 established that it was a 75-millimeter artillery shell from the Second World War. The found ammunition was destroyed.
Law enforcement agencies remind that if an object resembling ammunition is found, it should under no circumstances be touched or moved. Such a find must be immediately reported to the police. Any attempt to deal with ammunition independently can be dangerous, as any careless movement could lead to an explosion.
