Minsk public transport plans to reintroduce a system of push-button door opening for passengers. This was reported by "Minsktrans," responding to criticism of the innovation on social media.

The enterprise explained that to ascertain passengers' opinions, they conducted a survey on their website and in Telegram channels. The results showed that votes were almost equally divided, but the majority is not yet ready for such a system. Therefore, its operation was temporarily suspended.

"Minsktrans" noted that in the future, they plan to better inform citizens about the innovation and resume its testing. According to enterprise representatives, the system allows retaining warmth in the cabin in winter and coolness in summer, as doors open only where passengers need it. During peak hours, when there are particularly many passengers, the door opening process is entirely controlled by drivers.

The system of so-called smart doors was tested in Minsk from May 1 to July 31, 2026. During this period, doors in public transport opened after passengers pressed special buttons.
