The journey was long: residents of occupied Oleshky traveled to Russian Anapa by bus, after which they spent several hours in the air, flying to Gomel, BelTA reports.

The entire airport complex was mobilized for their reception, with a full-fledged tent city set up.
MNS specialists, medics, and Red Cross volunteers immediately began providing assistance to the evacuated residents, who arrived effectively from a combat zone. They were met by a large team of rescue department staff, volunteers, and doctors.
The youngest passengers are offered to spend time in play areas — for example, watching cartoons.
At Gomel airport, Oleshky residents will await departure to "Novaya Huta" — it is through this checkpoint that they will need to pass into the territory of Ukraine, where they wished to move from the Russian-occupied town near Kherson.
Oleshky, which is under Russian control, has found itself in a situation close to a humanitarian catastrophe in recent months. The city is constantly shelled, and there is almost no possibility to leave, as most roads are mined.
At the end of October, with the mediation of Melania Trump, Russia and Ukraine agreed on a local ceasefire to allow residents to leave the city. The silence regime began on October 27 and, according to the agreement, should continue until November 1. The absolute majority of residents wished to return to Ukraine.
