"Please remove your doormats." A strange announcement was posted on the entrance door in Minsk
An unusual announcement appeared on the entrance door of house No. 36 on Yakub Kolas Street in Minsk. On behalf of ZHEU-3 (Housing and Utilities Department) of Pervomaisky district, residents were asked to remove mats near their apartment entrance doors, writes the "Minsk-Novosti" agency.

The text of the announcement was written with numerous errors and consisted of disjointed sentences. It claimed that residents must remove doormats based on point 16.6 of the Rules for the Use of Residential Premises, approved by Resolution No. 399 of the Council of Ministers of Belarus.
Residents had doubts that such a message could have been prepared by communal service employees. Questions were also raised by the method of its placement: a sheet of paper was attached with tape to the door, although there are special notice boards in the entrance. For such a violation, communal workers could be brought at least to disciplinary action.
The administration of Pervomaisky district denies the involvement of housing and utility employees in the dissemination of the message. They say that the announcement was posted by one of the citizens as a prank.
However, last week ZHEU-3 received an application from one of the residents of this house. He asked to oblige his neighbors to remove the mats, and in case of non-compliance, to bring them to administrative responsibility for violating the rules for using residential premises.
However, after inspecting the entrance, specialists concluded that residents are not violating the rules. The housing and utility services explained that small flat mats, placed directly at the entrance to the apartments, do not narrow the passages enough to impede evacuation, and do not prevent doors from opening freely. Therefore, such items are not considered cluttering or obstructing evacuation routes.
It remains unknown whether the author of the fake announcement will be found and held accountable for their unauthorized action.
